  1. Yea I kept on getting errors when it attempts to create a WDS session, it ended up being some MTU issues on the router setting and on the wds server. Thanks for the response!!!
  2. This is weird I assumed I could deploy my 2012 r2 server through WDS with smartdeploy, but when I go to create the wim file do not see the option to check the check box for it. I should point out that the options appears when ever I select my windows 7 vmdk file.. Any ideas? Please let me know what information anyone needs to help resolve it, or even if it's a possibility. Thanks
  3. Has anyone had any luck find a platform pack for this make in model for windows 7? I can't seem to find it anywhere.. Thanks!
  4. Will do thanks, I'll post the results when I get it done.
  5. Same Result. Yes, this is during the load process before you get to the smart deploy splash screen. Error message details: File: \windows\systems32\drivers\percsas2.sys Status: 0xc000035a Info: Windows failed to load because critical system driver is missing or corrupted. The platform pack downloaded from the website with no alternations: Dell PowerEdge R420 Windows PE: Network: b57nd60x.inf bxdiag.inf bdfcoe.inf bxnd.inf bwois.inf bxvdb.inf evbd.inf Raid: nodev.inf percsas2.inf Windows Server 2012 R2 Not including everything here
  6. I'm having a problem where when trying to deploy a smart deploy image to a server R420. I downloaded the platform pack from the smartdeploy website and then create my boot media. On boot up I receive corrupted driver error when trying to boot from the USB bootable media. So I decided to create my own platform pack to see if that would fix the issue but realized once I got to the download site that a majority of the driver installs are exe's and do not contain the files you specify during your training videos. Is there another round about way to get the drivers needed to deploy the image?
  7. I'm having problems combining platform packs. I have added Dell Latitude E6440 and E6540 to the default platform pack. It was suggested I remove any USB 3.0 in the Windows PE, after removing them I then retested to see if it would deploy, which it doesn't. If I deploy a machine with a platform pack that was in the default originally every thing works fine... If I attempt to deploy it to either a E6540 or E6440 I do not receive the USB drive smartdeploy to deploy it... but it does boot to the smart deploy slash screen. I know it's a good platform pack as if I create the boot media just supplying the E6540 or E6440 everything works fine but after combining the platform packs is where the issue is.
  8. I'm still having this issue and have not found a solution to the problem as now. I noticed the view count started rising a bit and was wondering if anyone else was facing the same issue? Either way if I could confirm that the issue is on my side or on smart deploys that would help my troubleshooting a lot.
  9. Sorry for the late response, I had to wait until another batch of these came in. went through and removed the USB 3.0 from the Windows PE nodes (there was only one). I can now Image everything that came with the default package from the installation, but still cannot install E6540 after importing it into the default package. I'm keeping one on hand until this is resolved from here on out, so no more long waits. thanks for all the help and please keep it coming . I forgot to mention that I am now getting an IP address but still cannot access the smartdeploy drive so we are making some progress.
  10. Going down the list I only saw one that had USB3.0 on the Windows PE it was on the OptiPlex 7010, there are few others that have SATA should I remove those as well? Below is the list of packs I have in the default.ppk Latitude's: E6320 E6430 E6440 E6510 E6520 E6530 E6540 OptiPlex's: 7010 755 7010 960 980 990
  11. Ok I've upgraded to the latest version, then used the platform manager to add the missing platforms in. Same result I'm afraid. I can boot from the USB but once I'm in smart deploy it does not detect the USB drive letter labeled smartdeploy (the one that has the image) Used the suggestion above recreate the USB with only the platform for that model and it works just fine. As always any continued help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the reply. The answer to that question would have to be no, I'll upgrade and let you know what happens. Thanks.
  13. Tried this, still no luck. Thanks for the suggestion. Tried this a second time and it went through and everything worked. Is there a way to append it to where it works with the default one? as buying two USB for every Tech that does installs will get kinda cost a few bucks?
  14. I have strange issue where if I boot via usb to smart deploy that works on all other makes and models, I recieve no IP address and does not detect the USB dirve itself... This does however it still has the X drive, but the drive that is labeled Smart deploy that has all the images and everything else is not there. To make things a little stranger at the main branch we have WDS setup which uses the smart deploy boot and image. When deploying it this way everything works well. I believe this works because it's recieving it's IP addes before actually doing anything with smart deploy. We need this to work with USB as we do deployments at all branches and some that are not configured for WDS. If anyone has any ideas on what I can try that would get this working that would be awesome. Thanks! John
  15. Thansk for the responce! When I'm manually inputting the the data, I don't see an option to enable the local administrtaor ( I asssume it's enabled by default). This is the whole process I take. 1. boot to USB with no answer file 2. first screen I click advanced and enter in my command line codes and then click next. 3. I then select the other information such as computer name join to domain. what OU I want it to go to (which could be my issue) is the syntex different from AD? 4. export the answer file I just created and put save it to the USB root. installation goes will the first time, but after I attempt to use the answer file things go south. Thanks for your help on this!
  16. when deploying with a USB with an answer file the only account created is asp.net login, if I remove the answer file and put everything in manually everything works just fine. Any ideas of what might be cuasing this? answer file: <smartdeploy version="1.1" version_debug="1.1.2000"> <deploy_wizard> <welcome skip="0"> <hide_options_button>false</hide_options_button> </welcome> <select_image skip="1"> <image_file>F:\z\64-Bit 1-27-14.wim</image_file> <image_name>64-Bit 1-27-14</image_name> </select_image> <disk_options skip="1"> <!-- 0 = Recreate drives, 1 = Wipe & load drives, 2 = SmartMigrate --> <disk_option>0</disk_option> </disk_options> <product_key skip="1"> <product_key /> </product_key> <end_user_license_agreement skip="1"> <accept_eula>false</accept_eula> </end_user_license_agreement> <user_information skip="1"> <full_name>I changed this</full_name> <organization_name>I changed this</organization_name> </user_information> <regional_settings skip="1"> <time_zone>(GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US and Canada)</time_zone> <input_locale>English (United States)</input_locale> </regional_settings> <display_settings skip="1"> <resolution>Auto Detect</resolution> <color_depth>Auto Detect</color_depth> <refresh_rate>Auto Detect</refresh_rate> </display_settings> <network_tcpip_settings skip="1"> <ipv4> <!-- 0 = Obtain an IP address automatically, 1 = Use the following IP address --> <static>0</static> <ip_address /> <subnet_mask /> <default_gateway /> <preferred_dns_server /> <alternate_dns_server /> <preferred_wins_server /> <alternate_wins_server /> </ipv4> </network_tcpip_settings> <network_identification skip="0"> <computer_name /> <!-- 0 = Domain, 1 = Workgroup --> <membership>0</membership> <domain>nstarbank.com</domain> <domain_options> <option></option> </domain_options> <organizational_unit /> <organizational_unit_options> <option></option> </organizational_unit_options> <workgroup /> </network_identification> <join_domain_credentials skip="0"> <username>I changed this</username> <domain>I changed this</domain> <password>I changed this</password> </join_domain_credentials> <wds_credentials> <server /> <username /> <domain /> <password /> </wds_credentials> <summary skip="0"> <hide_export_button>false</hide_export_button> </summary> <completion /> <advanced_options> <general> <platform_pack>[imageFolder]\Default.ppk</platform_pack> <system_properties> <system_property enabled="0">DISABLE_SYSTEM_RESTORE</system_property> <system_property enabled="1">RESTORE_DRIVE_LETTERS</system_property> <system_property enabled="0">ENABLE_ADMINISTRATOR_ACCOUNT</system_property> <system_property enabled="1">PRESERVE_CRASH_CONTROL_SETTINGS</system_property> <system_property enabled="1">PRESERVE_DESKTOP_ICONS</system_property> </system_properties> <reboot_after_deployment>true</reboot_after_deployment> </general> <identification> <!-- 0 = Assign a new computer name automatically, 1 = Use the following naming method --> <naming_mode>0</naming_mode> <naming_methods> <method>EXISTING</method> <method>WMI</method> <method>CUSTOM</method> </naming_methods> <custom_naming_scheme>A########</custom_naming_scheme> <prefix></prefix> <wmi_query>SELECT SMBIOSAssetTag FROM Win32_SystemEnclosure</wmi_query> </identification> <migration> <protected_folder>Backup</protected_folder> <virtualization_platform /> <create_desktop_shortcut>false</create_desktop_shortcut> <files_to_exclude /> </migration> <tasks> <task> <phase>FIRSTLOGON</phase> <command>bdehdcfg -target c: shrink -newdriveletter z: -size 300 -quiet</command> </task> <task> <phase>FIRSTLOGON</phase> <command>cscript "c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\ospp.vbs" /act</command> </task> <task> <phase>FIRSTLOGON</phase> <command>shutdown /r /f /t 900 /c "Machine must restart in 15 minutes to apply bitlocker settings.   17. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I follow 100%, i've tried going through the media wizard and checking the box "for use with WDS" and later in the options specifying a custom answer file. which moves the answer file into the iso or USB bootable media. From there I go into WDS and create/or rather assign the bootable image which imports the image to the correct spot in the WDS server, I don't see any option to assign the answer file. I think I might be missing a basic step but can't figure it out.
  18. I'm completely lost and can't find any information so any information would be very very helpful. I'm trying to use WDS with smartdeploy and everything is working great, other than we have to manually put in all the information in everytime, because I can't figure out where I need to put the answer file in the WDS server or what I have to do to link the two together. I'm a complete noob when it comes to WDS, so please keep that in mind .
