  1. Well, not sure what to do now. I rolled back top previous version. I still cannot for the life of me create ANY media whatsoever...period. I have tried: Boot Media....Fail Offline Deployment...Fail WDS PXE Boot...Fail Deployment Package NOT used as it requires an answer file which I do NOT use. WDS example: 1)create media 2)welcome to wizard 3)next 4)WDS Boot Media 5)next 6)choose a single PP that is "current" and updated (HPProDesk400G3DM-Windows7.ppk) 7)next 8)custom answer file...ignored 9)next 10)Type-SmartPE (64-bit) 11)next 12)FROZEN IN TIME AT THIS POINT. Media creation no longer does anything, zero cpu. Cannot close window, must kill it using TaskMgr. I have tried this a half dozen times, with a couple reboots in between. other things to note: There is NO A/V in the way Windows Firewall junk is ALL OFF Server 2012R2 in Workgroup only...Never part of Domain. Reference machine NEVER in Domain either. After install setup and SD deployment a few years ago...NO WINDOWS Updates on Server since that time, just because we know MS will blow things up all by themselves. So easier to keep them out of the mix completely. No changes to OS since. Other than SD being two newer versions since I actually had to re-create any Media It would seem I am having an issue with the "Media Creation" portion as SmartDeploy otherwise seems to work, captures, platform packs etc all function. Log File attached for the WDS Deployment failure. Perhaps a Support Ticket is in order? Tks Howard PS: I have SD Installation File from 2016...my original version that worked. I will be giving this spin tomorrow to check result and will advise. WDS_Media.log
  2. No Joy. Previously used image is still unable to be created with this new version. Get the same Exception thrown each time. I am going to roll back my install and see if that works. More to come....
  3. This is a New Image, of a previously used image with the only difference being it's now got the NVMe driver pack installed. I am going to try re-creating a KNOWN good image to confirm. But have to import it first. Will report back once completed. Tks
  4. Latest Version 2.0.3040. SD is a 2012R2 Server, VM on ESX Host. Media is a WD Passport. connected to HOST via: USB Direct Connect. USB is connected to VM via USB Host Device. I have used these same devices and methods previous without issues. With this new SD version, I am seeing Exceptions in the Media Log. (Attached) edit: when SD is about to create the Media, it says: Checking removable drive properties, please wait..... This NEVER finishes. Task Mgr does NOT say thats is NOT Responding....but there are ZERO cpu cycles being used either. So at this time...I am pooched as far as creating offline media. Any idea's whats going on?? 5. Hi all; Not a biggy, but could save some time. I have already created my SD bootable media on USB and deployed the image I have there, multiple times. All good there. I created another VM Image and want to also put that on my USB as another windows image for another dept. Has different settings, software etc. No problem there either, SD captures image and I am golden. So now I want to add this Image to my Boot Media USB Drive. Platform Packs are already on the USB from previous Media Creation. (nothing has changed there, and all "packs" are current versions) So..when I go to "Create Media" it finds my USB, thats all good and I can proceed. What I notice tho, is that its Copying ALL the Platform Packs again. (14 of them) When I actually look at my USB drive.....they may be copied....but they are not duplicated. So it looks like it just writes over the ones that exist already. Is there a way to NOT copy these Packs again?? Do I just remove them out of SD Platform Packs..before creating media?? And of course, one MUST Create Media, because when doing so SD creates "Split Image Files". Otherwise I was temped to copy the new image myself, but though that probably wasn't something to try. Any thoughts? TIA
  6. I managed to get this working. I downloaded/install newest smartdeploy version 2.0.3005. I then followed the manual installation of the NVMe driver pack on the reference VM (Win7x64) (link to forum post: ) Captured the machine, created new deploy media, returned the Target >> HP Z2<< to BIOS Default (UEFi Enabled) and booted with SD Image. Reboot found the M.2 drive (unlike before) and booted correctly. I am now Golden.
  7. Got this figured out via Support: If the script refuses to run (in my case) you can install these required file manually. As per below: ************ If the script fails to install the hotfixes (generally due to inadequate user permissions, or software interfering with the installation process), it is necessary to re-run each step of the process manually: 1. Reboot the computer. 2. Download the hotfix package from here: http://download.smartdeploy.com/NVMe.zip 3. Extract the .zip to the root of C:\, to create a folder called C:\NVMe. 4. Then assuming this is a 64-bit OS, browse to "C:\NVMe\NVMe\x64\ ", and double-click on Windows6.1-KB2990941-v3-x64.msu. It may say that it is already installed; this is fine. 5. Open an administrative command prompt, run each of these commands, and ensure that each one returns success: Dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\NVMe\NVMe\x64\Windows6.1-KB3087873-v2-x64\update-bf.mum Regedit.exe /S C:\NVMe\NVMe\x64\StorNVMeService.reg Regedit.exe /S C:\NVMe\NVMe\x64\StorNVMeCDDB.reg Copy C:\NVMe\NVMe\x64\StorNVMeDriver\stornvme.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\stornvme.sys If each of these steps returns success, then reboot the VM one more time. After it reboots, then you can shut it down and capture it. ********** END I hope this helps others. Cheers
  8. Aha.....I am pretty sure thats what I had asked in the first place. Did I not??...YES I did. That could have saved me an 1-1/2hr of twiddling my thumbs and sending in a Support Request. Thanks for finally clearing that up.......Better late than never I suppose. ******* 20 min later******** EDIT:. SAD SAD SAD, No Difference after running from elevated cmd prompt. 20 min later and its still spinning its wheels. CPU grinding away sucking 85%...no end in sight. No pop ups saying complete of NOT complete......NOTHING.??? Support has not checked in yet...still waiting on my Ticket. I am going to assume this DOES NOT WORK as its supposed to. I have now wasted over 2 hours trying to instal what I though was a simple file. OMG....starting to loose faith in SmartDeploy.
  9. Ok..Thats fine...but is there something to let me know when its done the install...how do I know?? So I guess the answer is...NO?? There is NOTHING to tell me when this install is completed?? I am now 24 min in...wscript still running...along with makecab cpu steady at 81-88%.. And...I will ask the same question to be sure: Dbl click "install" to run or run from CMD or elevated CMD? Shall I continue to wait?? EDIT: 30 min in...still running....yippie... EDIT: now 35 min in.....and this script is STILL RUNNING??? Ho Hum.... EDIT:......now 43 min.....and still running...like the Energizer Bunny but in a BAD way. So Obviously this script is pooched or something is amiss. I will create a Support Ticket as there seems to be nothing coming back to me in this forum post. Maybe Support will understand what I am asking about Thanks. EDIT: now a HOUR and a HALF....and still running. No Support yet from Support. I am in LIMBO.
  10. I looked for an answer to this but found nothing. I am attempting to install this NVMe Script, on an image I have been using for some time, Win7 x64 and wanting to update this image for new devices that are now coming with M.2 drives etc. Question: How do I know when this "SCRIPT" is finished installing completely?? Is there supposed to be a popup message or something?? I waiting for about 15 min as my mouse flashed the hourglass, taskmagr showing wscript running.....makcab running...cpu at or near 100% for 10 min... At this point I gave up and rebooted, tried recapturing image...getting same message about not having NVMe files loaded. Also, I just dbl clicked on "install" vbs file, or shud thus be run from CMD...or Elevated CMD?? Thoughts??
  11. I am in the same situation too. HP Z2 Mini G3 (6th Gen CPU) BSOD with same code. Win 7 x64 Pro Platform Pac. Image had deployed fine on HP Elitedesks, Z200, 8200, 8300, Laptops...etc. I hope is has nothing to do with these having M.2 SSD media and not a physical drive? Anyway , multiple attempts and I have a dead box. No way to recover since deployment wipes the recovery partition. Going to continue to work on this, but will be watching this thread too.
